We’re Dee and Louise — sisters, dog lovers, and proof that it’s never too late to follow your heart.

Our journey began during one of the most difficult times in our lives, when our Dad, Sonnie, was diagnosed with cancer. It was a moment that changed everything — reminding us just how precious life is and giving us the courage to build something meaningful together.

That time brought us closer than ever. Now living and working side by side, we’ve not only reconnected as sisters, but as best friends.

Dogs have always been at the heart of our lives. We share our three Lhasa Apsos — Reggie, Frankie and Pebbles — who inspire everything we do. And our Dad’s lifelong love for animals, from caring for sheep and lambs to Neddy the donkey, has shaped the way we treat every dog in our care.

From that love, Sonnie’s Salon was born — a calm, caring, one-to-one space where dogs truly come first.

Dee is a qualified Dog First Aid Instructor, delivering courses across Derbyshire to help owners and professionals feel confident in an emergency. Together, we are also fully qualified dog groomers, offering gentle, professional grooming in Belper and surrounding areas.

While our purpose-built salon is being created, we are currently welcoming dogs into our home-based salon — providing a relaxed, safe and personal experience.

Sonnie’s Salon brings together expert grooming and life-saving knowledge, all built on compassion, trust and genuine love for dogs.

This is more than a business — it’s our promise.
A promise to honour Dad, to build something special together, and to create a future filled with purpose and wagging tails.
